Workspaces

Create a workspace, find its ID, and export or delete it.

A workspace is one project in your organization. Everything you build lives in one: Coderunners, apps, data, files, secrets and feature flags. Workspaces are kept apart from each other, and each starts with three environments: dev, staging and prod.

Before you start

  • To create a workspace: the Owner or Admin role in the organization.
  • To see a workspace: any role in it, or in its organization.

Create a workspace

Open Workspaces

In the Client Portal sidebar, click Workspaces.

Create it

Click New workspace. In the Create workspace dialog, choose the Organization, then enter a Name, such as Customer portal or Acme dev, and a Slug, a short URL name of lowercase letters, digits and hyphens. The slug is filled in from the name as you type, and you can change it. Groundfloor also gives the workspace an ID.

Open it

It appears in the list. Click it to see its details.

Find your workspace

  • In the Client Portal, most pages show one workspace at a time; choose it with the workspace picker at the top. Your choice carries across pages.
  • In the CLI, list workspaces with gf workspaces and choose one with gf workspaces use <workspace-id>.
  • Its ID is on the workspace's page, with a copy button, and in the address bar: /workspaces/<workspace-id>/…. You need it for API calls.

Export or delete a workspace

From the workspace's page:

  • Export downloads a JSON file of the workspace's settings, members, environments, setup history and activity log. Only workspace Owners and Admins, and organization Owners and Admins, can export it.
  • Delete workspace, in the Danger zone, schedules the workspace for permanent deletion in 30 days. Only a workspace Owner can do it, and it can be restored until then. See Delete a workspace.
